Camberley Town Royals 2 – Frimley Green Dolphins 4
Squad :Jenna (Captain), Jenna, Jane, Georgia, Esme, Ellie, Hannah, Ruby First Half A glorious sunny morning saw the Dolphins facing a team they had never beaten before. From the whistle, they showed they were determined to break this duck. Some early pressure from Jane and Esme saw a few good saves from the Camberley goalie. Continuing attacks saw a beautiful chip from Esme to Jenna who found the back of the net with a great finish. The Dolphins kept this pressure on and time after time, shots from Jenna, Esme, Georgia and Sina all just went wide of the goal. Half time saw the Dolphins 1-0 up.

The most local of derbiesEast Berks Youth Football League, Under 12s, Division 6Saturday 6/3/2010Frimley Green Tornadoes 1 Camberley Town Colts 2 The return match against Camberley Town Colts was eagerly anticipated by the Tornadoes. Whilst it was not possible to avenge a heavy defeat earlier in the Season, this was a much closer game. It was a 10:00 kick-off down the hill. The boys were soon on the attack and Tom F had a shot that went just to the right. Mark and Elliot were involved in some good midfield play which led to Tom F winning a corner on the right. Marcus took it but it was well cleared by the Camberley defence. It was no surprise that Camberley had attacking ideas of their own and it wasn’t long before the defensive quartet of Harry, Robert, Rhys and Matthew were called into action. Meanwhile the Tornadoes were working the ball well on the right with Mark again heavily involved. A good clearance by Harry found Tom A who in turn launched a clever pass for Marcus to run onto. Marcus put a great, hanging cross into the penalty area. The Camberley ‘keeper was quick off his line but Tom F was there first and showed great presence of mind to lob the ‘keeper and make the score 1-0 to the Tornadoes on eight minutes. Camberley went on the attack from the restart and Matthew had to make a timely tackle. At the other end Mark went on a couple of mazy runs that provided chances for Rhys and Tom F but, on both occasions, the Camberley defence dealt well with the threat. Further chances for the Tornadoes followed with Marcus and Tom F testing the Camberley ‘keeper. Terry made the first set of substitutions on 15 minutes with Rhys and Tom A being replaced by Ryan and Josh C. On 20 minutes Sean came off and was replaced by Josh C. Camberley were now starting to turn the screw but the Tornadoes defence held firm. Harry and Robert made good clearances and Matthew was running tirelessly. The pressure was relieved somewhat by the midfield, with Mark particularly involved in some intelligent passing manoeuvres. Marcus intercepted a Camberley clearance and his return shot went just wide. Another Camberley attack was cleared but the ball fell invitingly to a Camberley forward. He fired a well placed shot back at the goal that gave Connor little chance and the score went to 1-1 on 29 minutes. Soon after the half-time whistle blew. No changes were made to the Tornadoes line up for the second half. The early part of the half was evenly matched and Josh P was making incisive runs down the left wing. Ryan set Josh P up for a shot that stung the Camberley ‘keeper’s gloves. The ball ran to loose to Marcus whose thunderous shot went just wide. Connor was tested by a Camberley attack but collected the ball well and was able to set the Tornadoes off on the attack with a good clearance. On 37 minutes further substitutions were made, with Mark and Elliot being replaced as Sean and Tom A returned to the fray. On 40 minutes Camberley won a corner on the right. The set-piece was well delivered and it fell to the feet of one of the tall Camberley forwards. He showed a good touch on the deck to turn sharply and slam the ball into the net to take the score to 2-1 to Camberley. Having gone ahead, Camberley were looking to extend their lead. Their ambitions were thwarted by good defensive work from Harry, Sean and Josh C. The Tornadoes were very much aware that there was still time to turn this game around. Tom F and Marcus went off in search of an equaliser. Their forward runs were well supported by the midfield duo of Sean and Ryan. However, the Camberley defence held firm and they continued to carry a threat of their own, with Matthew having to make a great defensive clearance. Robert and Harry were substituted to be replaced by Elliot and Mark. Both were soon into the thick of the action, with Mark making a great defensive tackle. The clock was now ticking faster than the Tornadoes would have liked. Continuing Camberley pressure meant that further opportunities were few and far between and the final whistle blew for a 2-1 win for Camberley. The result was disappointing and the hard facts of the fixture list show three defeats on the trot. But, again, this was another very close game against one the best teams in the division and a lot closer than the away game in September ! The attitude was, as ever, 100% spot-on. Man of the Match went to Mark who produced some terrific passing moves from midfield and also came back to help the defence on several occasions.
